What does a cranked handle palette knife do?
A high-quality cranked palette knife perfect for spreading icing, buttercream and ganache on your homemade cakes and cupcakes. Features an ergonomic handle and flexible blade to help lift cake layers and smooth edges.
The angle of the handle avoids dragging your knuckles through the icing and makes this tool super versatile for filling, icing and various other cakey uses.
The length of the blade can come in various lengths to suit the size of the task at hand.
This Stainless Steel Cranked Palette Knife/Spatula by Sugar Crafty makes spreading icing, cream and butter icing onto your delicious homemade cupcakes nice and easy. The hand held sized palette knife features a cranked stainless steel blade and shaped handle for comfortable and easy use. Blade length measures approximately 15cm. Blade width measures 2.5cm.
A cranked handle palette knife is one of my favourite bits of cake decorating equipment – the angle of the handle avoids dragging your knuckles through the icing and makes this tool super versatile for filling, icing and a variety of other cakey uses.

Have I used the Cranked handle palette knife? Do I need it?
Yes, I use it almost with everything I do in the bakery.
When making sponge sheets, I use it to spread out the sponge, I usually use a longer blade for this.
For cakes, I like to use the small to medium-length blade as it feels like I have more control.
Do I use it every day?
YES!!! This tool is on my “Must have” list. I use the palette knife to help mix colour and flavours into icings or batter. Spread various icings, creams, chocolate, ganche and cake batter.
I use it to level my cakes when I decorate
I may have more than one in my toolbox, and they are all different lengths.
